Wheat & the Supply Gate

Wheat & the Supply Gate

Wheat is the raw material your bakeries turn into bread. Here is the single most important rule in the whole game:

No wheat means no sales. Every customer your bakery serves uses up wheat. If you run out, your bakeries serve zero customers and earn nothing, no matter how nice they are.

This is the supply gate. A beautiful Bread Empire with an empty wheat store makes exactly $0 per tick.

Where wheat comes from

You get wheat by building Wheat Farms. A Wheat Farm goes on a special tile that has a wheat deposit on it (you may need to survey foggy tiles first to find one). It does not sell bread or set a price. Its only job is to produce wheat for you every tick.

  • Richer deposits produce more wheat per tick.
  • Wheat Farms also take time to build, just like bakeries, and count against your building slots.

How wheat is shared

Your wheat is one shared pool across your whole empire, not per-bakery. Each tick your farms add wheat to the pool, then your bakeries draw from it to serve customers.

  • If the pool cannot cover every bakery, your higher-tier bakeries are served first. Smaller ones may go hungry that tick.
  • This means a fast-growing empire needs its wheat supply to grow too. Add farms before you add big bakeries.

There is an emergency market to buy a little wheat with $BREAD, but it is deliberately a terrible rate. It exists to rescue you from a total stall, never as a real supply plan. Building farms is always the right answer.
