Building Bakeries
Your bakeries are where you actually make money. You build one on an empty, buildable plot, then customers show up each tick and buy bread.
To build, pick a revealed plot on the map and choose a tier. There are five bakery tiers, smallest to biggest:
- Roadside Stall
- Corner Bakery
- Bread Stop
- Mega Bakery
- Bread Empire
Higher tiers cost more $BREAD to build and take longer to finish, but they serve a lot more customers per tick once they are running. A Roadside Stall is cheap and quick, so it is the natural first build. A Bread Empire is a serious late-game investment.
A few rules to know:
- You pay both the plot cost and the bakery cost up front. Busier zones (like highway and downtown) cost more for the plot but bring more foot traffic.
- New bakeries spend time under construction before they open. While building, they earn nothing.
- You can only have one building under construction at a time, so plan your queue.
- You can pay $BREAD to skip the remaining construction if you are in a hurry.

You can also upgrade an existing bakery to the next tier later instead of building fresh. Upgrading puts it back under construction while the work is done.
The number of bakeries you can own at once is capped by your franchise level. See Upkeep & Wear and the franchise pages for how to raise that cap.
VERIFY: confirm the live UI shows tier 1 as "Roadside Stall" — gameState.ts STATION_TIERS says Roadside Stall, but BREAD_FACTORY_CHANGELOG.md claims it was renamed to "Home Oven"
